Reptiles: When to Get Medical Advice

Knowing when it’s time to get medical attention for reptiles is often tricky because they don’t tend to show signs of illness or disease until the problem becomes severe. If you’re unsure whether your reptile is sick or injured, look out for the following:

  • Your pet isn’t eating or has a reduced appetite
  • Your pet’s behaviour or routine has changed
  • Your pet is struggling to move or is unable to use a leg
  • Your pet is suffering from breathing difficulties
  • Your pet’s eyes are swollen, red or have discharge
  • Your pet is drinking excessively
  • Your pet has discharge come from its mouth or nostrils
  • Your pet’s droppings have changed

This, of course, is not an exhaustive list, and we advise you to contact us if you still don't know whether your reptile needs medical attention.
